1. Academic All-State should include Honorable Mention for
all
|
11. Eight teams should advance to
the IHSAA team state finals. The 16 regional winners
should advance to 8 semistate sites. The winners
of the one match semi-states would advance to state. State
would then consist of four quarterfinal matches on Friday,
then the semifinals and finals on Saturday.

2. Schools should have an
additional scheduling option of 16 dual matches and no
tournament.

12. The singles and doubles state
finals should be seeded based on player ability. |

3. Player rankings for singles and
doubles should be compiled and listed on a weekly basis.
These rankings should be used to expand the field for the
singles and doubles state finals with "wildcards" for highly
ranked players who do not advance from the team tournament
series. |
13. The singles and doubles state
finals should be a random draw.

|
4. Any eligible doubles team that
is beaten in the tournament series by a doubles team that
has not met the 50% rule (and therefore is ineligible for
the individual tournament) should remain in the individual
doubles tournament.

14. Coaches should be allowed to
change their line-up for each round of the IHSAA tournament.
|
|
|
5. Tennis should be a multi - class
sport instead of a single class sport.
|
15. Teams should not be allowed to
practice regularly at an indoor tennis club in lieu of
practicing at their tennis courts.
|
|
|
6. Sites for regional, semi-state
and state tournaments must have a minimum of 10 courts
available. (the host school could use more than one location
as long as each team match is at one site)

16. The number of players permitted
to participate in the Preseason Scrimmage should be extended
from the current limit of 14 to a new maximum of 20 as
long as enough courts are available. The scrimmage still
must be completed in 90 minutes.

7. No school should host more than
two levels of the IHSAA tournament series. |
17. Number 2 singles and #2 doubles
players who are unbeaten during the postseason play and who
meet the 50% rule (for duobles) should be eligible for the
IHSAA state singles or doubles tournament.

8. The match format should be two
singles positions and 3 doubles positions. (8 varsity
players)

18. Players at any position who are
unbeaten during the regular season and post season play and
who meet the 50% rule (for doubles) should be eligible for
the IHSAA state singles and doubles tournament.

9. Coaches shold be allowed to coach
their players at all times during a match. The coach
would remain outside the court and would not violate the 20
second time limit between points or the 90 second time limit
at changeovers.
|
19. The 50% rule for eligibility
for the individual doubles tournament should be dropped.
|
|
|
10. Coaches should be allowed to coach
their players after every game as long as the 20 second rule
between points and / or 90 second changeover rule is not
violated.
|
20. All official assistant coaches
(approved by official school action) should be allowed to
coach during a dual match or invitational tournament. |
